Designing and operating off-campus accreditation frameworks aligned to national norms and standards.
Sixteen years leading residence affairs at the University of the Free State, now in independent practice across Southern Africa — accreditation systems, policy, and the building of places students can succeed in.
EnquireFor sixteen years Quintin Koetaan built one of South Africa’s most respected university housing operations. He now advises independently.
He spent sixteen years in the University of the Free State’s housing division — latterly as Senior Director: Housing & Residence Affairs (2013–2025) — leading student housing across three campuses, 42 residences and more than 280 staff, and growing it into a financially self-sustaining auxiliary that built twelve new residences along the way.
He established the university’s off-campus accreditation office in line with the DHET’s norms and standards, helped shape that national policy, and served as President of ACUHO-I SAC, the Southern African student-housing body. He holds an MA and co-authored research in Land Use Policy.
Today he advises universities, private accommodation developers, government and social-housing companies on accreditation, residence management and student-management strategy — and contributes to boards, review panels and national committees.
